[LIVE] ❤️ ALTEA BEACH 🏖 & HARBOR - RODA'S BEACH LIVE Altea has a very different feel to Benidorm although the skyscrapers are still visible in the distance. There is a smart marina with yachts and a beautiful seafront with a promenade, highly coiffured trees, flowers, benches and children’s playgrounds. Cafes and restaurants can be found all along the promenade with amazing sea views. The beach is pebbles and noticeably quieter than Benidorm and you will be amazed by the turquoise colour of the sea. The old medieval town stands on a hill overlooking the sea and is well worth the climb for the views alone! Firstly you have to cross over the tram tracks. Steep steps and narrow streets lined with centuries old whitewashed houses adorned with geraniums, bougainvillea, wrought iron balconies and orange trees lead you up to the square at the top. As you climb the vistas just get better with glimpses of that turquoise sea and the Penon d’Ilfach of Calpe in the distance. You will also get an insight into the lives of the people here – unhurried, friendly, happy! At the very top you will find the wonderful church The Virgin del Consuelo. It has an incredibly ornate interior. You can relax in one of the many cafes surrounding the square and maybe treat yourself to coffee and home made almond cake! There are art galleries to explore, several restaurants and a viewing platform to watch the sun set over Benidorm. In the summer evenings, especially at weekends, Altea old town is the place to be and lots of well dressed couples flock to the square to enjoy the handicraft stalls, the bars and restaurants.
